Rachel Dolezal - An Example of Self and Group Hatred

The bizarre, strange, and peculiar behavior of Rachel Dolezar is a lesson for all mental health professionals who are interested in seeing a person exhibiting self and group hatred.

Here is a white woman who was born to two white biological parents who raised her as an average white girl. Now as an adult for the last seven years she has rejected her parents; dishonored them; and disparaged them. They apparently still love her and remain confused about her behavior. Anyone who chooses to act that way towards their parents is a despicable person and can't be trusted. There is no evidence that her

parents abused her or neglected her. Rather, it appears to be just the opposite. Her parents appear to be the type that loved children as evidenced by their choosing to be adoptive parents and adopting four children.

Returning specifically to Ms Dolezar, some facts need to be considered. I think that depriving a Black person, as she did, from acquiring a full scholarship from a traditional Black university, Howard University, is not acceptable. And after graduating from Howard University to then sue the University as a white woman for a faculty position is not only unacceptable, but truly bizarre.

Also during these seven year stretch of time she also identified a Black man as her father as well a young Black man who had actually had been adopted by her parents, as her son. Moreover, she discovered how to transform her blond hair to fuzzy brown hair and how to frequently use tanning salons to deal with her pale white skin.

While we should treat every other human beings as we would want to be treated, as Black Americans we should reject all white people want to be Black, but accept those who recognize and appreciate their heritage – Greek, French, Spanish, Italian or otherwise. While I’m in the process of identifying the specific country from which my ancestors were taken, the part of the continent that I identify with is West Africa.

Keep in mind, this is a racist country founded upon the backs of slaves who were torn from their African homeland and kept in involuntary servitude for over three-hundred years. This is not a country of immigrants despite what Obama and other liberals, both Black and white, may say. My ancestors did not immigrate here, they were brought here in chains under the worst conditions imaginable while white Europeans came own their own free will. 

And once here, with the exception of a few, capitalized on white privilege and if they didn't, it’s nobody’s fault but their own and still remains that way. Dolezar, once she stops trying to be Black, has the option to stop going to the tanning salon, to let her hair go back to its natural blonde and to capitalize on white privilege like any other white woman.

The Only Way to Get the Police under Control

Forget about reconstructing the grand jury system. Forget about retraining existing police forces. Forget about body cameras. These actions will help, but, white racist police will continue to be who they are whether or not the above actions are taken. These people will continue to disregard Black life, and in fact, would still treat an animal better. This is simply the nature of being white and racist. Can a leopard change its spots?

Control the Politics and the Politicians
What is necessary is that anywhere Black voters have a majority, they must become politically astute and as Malcolm X. once said, "control both the politics and the politicians in their community, town, or city." There should never be a white politician who supposedly represents Black constituents. They must identify, support, and elect politicians from their own community, give them an agenda, and hold them accountable.

Elect a Civilian Review Board with Power
To get the police under control, Black voters must specifically elect a Civilian Review Board and the Board must have the power to both discipline and fire policeman when the need arises. I emphasize that this elected board must have the power to discipline and fire out-of-control police. This power cannot be in the hands of the mayor, city manager, or police chief.

The Civilian Review Board in conjunction with the mayor, and the communities' political representatives must draft policies, procedures, hiring criteria, and the training the police will have to undergo. No police unions, fraternal orders, or associations will be permitted. The policeman’s only job will be to serve and protect. If they don’t do this, they will be summarily fired.

Pinpoint Police Training
The training component, a key element, must emphasize the importance of respecting those they are serving and protecting. The police will be required to meet and maintain specific physical qualifications and requirements. They must know when and how to use their firearms appropriately. And, also they must also learn how to subdue a person when necessary and not just be ready to kill. The use of mace, a stun gun, or a firearm should only be used as a last resort.

Change Police Conduct
There has been a lot of chatter about how a Black man should act when confronted by the police. However, equally important is how the police must act when interacting with a Black man or woman, The word is respect – – mutual respect. Respect is a two way street. Our taxes pay the policeman's salary, his health care, and his pension benefits.  If the policeman understands that his conduct will subject him to review, discipline, and dismissal., he will govern himself accordingly.

All police abuse and misconduct will end.

A New Type of Policeman

You will have only a certain type of policeman who would be willing to work in this environment. I daresay that you would not have any that are white and racist. All those who are on the police force would be respectful, competent, and caring. At least they would care about keeping their jobs.
