The truth is that Black lives nave never really mattered in this country. Consider this country's record regarding the history of slavery, the Jim Crow laws, and the ongoing systemic, pervasive racism that continually have to addressed by concerned, knowledgeable, and independent Black people.
Now read the:
- the history of lynchings in this country;
- the history of the Black Wall Street in Oklahoma where Black people were mercilessly massacred, had their homes and businesses burnt down, and were even bombed from the air;
- the history of Rosewood, Florida where Black people were killed by mobs of racist whites who burned down their homes and businesses;
- and, the history of the race riots in Chicago and Detroit were Black people were murdered by mobs of racist white people mainly because they wanted to improve the quality of their lives.
- And, on and on
The thread that run through all these atrocities against Black people, many who valiantly put up some resistance, were that: nearly all of these white people were living in either states or cities ran by white racist Democrat mayors and governors; these white people viciously murdered Black people in overwhelming numbers; the lynchings were even occasions to bring the children, some fried chicken, and some adult beverages; and, the racist white people murdered Blacks with the full compliance of the white policemen who not only stood by and let it happen, but often actively participated in the atrocities. Needless to say that these policemen had no desire to protect Black people and were just as guilty as those others in the white mobs.
After reading about these atrocities and overcoming your ignorance, I invite you to step back, take a deep breath, and reflect on whether Black lives ever mattered in this country. The Fraternal Order of Police and other police unions exist to protect the police who kill Black men, women, and children.
Black people need to take appropriate political action and whatever other actions necessary to protect themselves against these rogue cops. The rise of the Deacons for Defense and Justice in the ‘60s is a great example of what concerned Black men can do to protect themselves and their communities.
The white policemen were not afraid to do their jobs then, they just consciously chose not to do so. Is history repeating itself or this just a continuation of business as usual?.
